Several members of the 400greybike webforum turned up for the dyno-day
at Projex tuning centre in Cradely Heath today. There were NC30's, NC24's
and even an RC30 VFR750R!!
I have uploaded all of the videos of
the dyno-runs that were taken onto youtube and they should be available for
viewing soon.
The NC24 I had taken down ran 54.01hp! 23.96 ft/lb
of torque. Not too bad considering it was still being put together the night
before with guess-work carburettor setting and balancing

Not many updates lately, have been enjoying the 'sun' when it has shown itself and been buying spares whenever they turn up cheap. Theres going to be a dyno-day in september which is looking good.
Today I rebuilt the front brake calipers. The brake pads had worn
out almost completely on the one side, yet the other side wasn't so
worn!
The seals all needed to be replaced as they had
become swollen with age and incorrect grease being used by previous
owners.
I completely disassemble the calipers, clean them
with degreasing solution then install new seals using red rubber grease
and then reassemble with new brake pads!
The pads chosen are
Nissin TT2501 HH (RC30) Sintered pads.
Hopefully the braking
will be improved! Time to ride and testt....

Wow! 4 months almost since I last updated the website.. sloppy!
But to be fair not a lot has happened, bike has been laid up most of
the winter. The MOT test was due and I took it yesterday. Unfortuantly
the bike Failed! The Rear Wheel Bearings have excessive play!

Stripped the rear-hub down and the Left bearing has
failed, it is 2 bearings joined together as one piece! Will order a
replacement tomorrow, then hopefully the bike can pass! The needle
roller bearing is ok though as that was replaced last year.
I have found out a scan of a review of the NC24 from an unknown UK biking magazine, i'd say the review was around 1994/1995. Sadly it has no date, if anyone knows which magazine it was from, please let me know, it makes a good reading though, it can be found in the downloads section.
The links section of the website has been created! If you want to be included and are not already please contact me! I have also added more information to the Specifications section.
I have had arrive a Fuel Tank decal and Helmet holder decal that
were missing from the motorbike! It can be attatched now.
I have updated the Modifications section, I fitted the NC21
clutch to the bike and the guide is now also completed!
The weather has gone colder lately, I find the cold-air makes
the bike run better! It is a pleasure to ride now, although today
it was snowing! Snow is cold to ride in
Have created a Specifications section as i'm sick of reading bogus / dis information on the web!
Have now created a modifications section where i'll put all information relating to upgrades / modifications i've done / doing to the NC24.
Today I brought some parts for the NC24! I brought a Hydraulic Clutch system from the NC21 to replace my worn out cable clutch! This should just bolt on. I also brought a complete NC30 front-end with 41mm Showa forks. Hopefully it'll fit without too much hassle and i'll have better brakes and a 120/60/17 front wheel :D I originally planned to put an RVF400 NC35 front-end onto the NC24 but the price is too expensive. :(
Had a couple of licence plates arrive from China that are for show times. I have added pictures to the image gallery. It has been a lot of rain so have not ridden the bike much this month.
Items also arrived from Japan today, including the sales catalogue! it is now in the downloads section
Updated the repair diary with a few pictures of the carburettor overhaul I did, discovered a bit of rust in the tank, seems to have fixed the bad starting problem, the slow running jet of one of the carbs is blocked as it's fluctuating at idle, i'll take them back off when i'm bored / have the patience.
I have also brought a new back wheel (thats actually in good shape!) and a new exhaust system made by MIC? Anyone know who that it? It fits much better without the strange spring system somone constructed onto the bike, it also sounds a little deeper, pics of the exhaust are in the images section
I have purchased the parts booklet for the NC24 and NC21. Will be available to download soon, I have also added a scan of the Owners Handbook to the downloads section
Purchased new tyres for the front / rear of the bike, I choose the Bridgestone BattleAxe BT45's. They make the bike much nicer, the old tyres were Maxxis brand, and the DOT date code on the tyres shows 1987! That is the original tyres of the bike, much too old and worn out
I also managed to purchase several items from eBay, some of which I am awaiting delivery, I got a Rothmans branded jacket to match the motorcycle, an Exhaust can made by MIC and another rear wheel insert. And some spare large fairing pannels. Two Pictures of the jacket are found in the images section. I am awaiting deliver of the exhaust / wheel / fairings.
I also purchased items from Japan from Yahoo Auction Japan, these include parts book and promotional brocher. They will arrive next week.
I have put a video on youtube, I will put some more on when I make them, they are being created with my digital camera, Panasonic DMC-TZ1
The bike is running fine now, after sorting out all the repairs as detailed in the repair diary. I'm currently having trouble with the exhaust system, it seems there are some springs that hold mine together that nobody else seems to have. Any information people have may be useful.
Added a picture of the mysterious exhaust springs to the images gallery, which now works btw.
This website will contain information, downloads and other useful information about the Honda VFR400 NC24, including information about my own NC24.
Only the Repair Diary is working yet
